The Uzbekistan Pavilion represents the country’s rich cultural heritage, advanced construction techniques, and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The design of the pavilion draws inspiration from the architecture and heritage of Khiva, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan, as well as from the traditional Central Asian amulet known as a "tumar." Viewed from above, the pavilion has a triangular floor plan. Spanning approximately 750 square meters and rising two stories high, the structure captures familiar Uzbek landscapes, blending tradition with contemporary design. The base of the pavilion, made of bricks and clay, symbolizes the earth, roots, and Uzbekistan’s cultural legacy. The 8-meter-high wooden structure above it represents a forest and draws on the architectural styles of traditional temples and palaces. The materials used in the construction—wood, clay, and brick—are natural and rooted in Uzbek tradition, aligning with the principles of a circular economy through their reusability. The roof design incorporates 280 wooden beams, each traceable by visitors using their smartphones. Each beam is equipped with a tracker that reveals the origin of the timber. All the wood used is "sugi," a type of cypress native to Japan, and has been sourced from forests near Osaka.
